RECKLESS MOTORISTS.
COUNTY ROADMEN KNOCKED DOWN. Though the main highways are being put down primarily'for the convenience of motor traffic, many drivers show little throught for the men who are engaged in the \york of rdaa conefruetion. Reporting to the Horowhenaa, County Council on Saturday, the Conwy Engineer said-: “I wonldlilce to bring under the notice of the Council the dangerous manner in which certain motorists travel and the lack of consideration shown while passing County employees at work on the Main Roads. Although notices to drive slowly are put up on the sections, no notice is taken of them by a large number of drivers: It is my intention in future to prosecute all offenders." Tile Engineer said certain motorists showed an utter disregard of other people’s safety. They took no notice of notices, and two County workmen had been knocked over while at work, while the new formation was damaged by being driven over when there was no need to.do-so. Cr.. Broadbelt thought it absolutely essential that drastic measures should be takeii for the protection. of. the men and to. prevent loss of , time through having tojbe continually ofi the alert for motorists. Cr. Ryder considered .the Council should stron-ly support the- Engineer in dealing with the motorists, and Ci. Catley also agreed that the Engineer was entitled to take the strongest action possible.
