RUGBY MATTERS.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. Those present at Tuesday's meeting of the Management Committee of the Horqwhenua Rugby Union were; Messrs (Procter (chairman), Hutchens, Anderson, McDonald, Sloan, Frechtling, Hannan, snd Austin. During the Hui Mai—Foxton Senior match Mr Head, the referee, had occasion to order toff Wallace, a Hjui Mai player, for kicking an opponent who was lying on the ground. The player in question, during his statement last night to the committee said that as he, Wallace was. abouit to kick the ball an opponent made a dive for it, hut he had no clear recollection of lacking the man, although if he did kick a Foxton player he was sorry for it. —Resolved that Wallace be cautioned. At last week's committee meeting a resolution was carried to the effect that no matches be played on. the 26th Sept., but a motion was passed last night rescinding the previous resolution, and it was decided to play the final Nash Cup match, between Hui Mai and County, o.n that date.* Mr Anderson said that had the original motion been allowed .to stand, it would probably have meant that no final game could be played, as the committee could hot reasonably expect a team to train indefinitely, and a good many of the County players came a fair distance in order to practice. ( The first match for the Austin Banner will toe played on 26th September. All games for Saturday next, the 19th instant, have been postponed.
