"SHE WOLVES."
STORY OF PARISIAN NIGHT LIFE
i Originality of theme in motion pieI lures is something difficult to find, ' but it is present'in "She Wolves," the William Fox production which comes to the Maoriland Theatre on Saturday. Instead of the woman sacrificing for the man she loves, the man does the sacrificing for an indifferent woman. Alma Rubens plays the role of Germaine O'Artois, and Jack Mulliall is her husband. Both appear to excellent advantage, Miss Rubens as the cool, austere wife, who later sees that clothes do not make the man, and Mr Mulhall asj an adoring, faithful and game bus-band. His gameness penetrates the cold veneer of Germaine and there is a happy ending. Harry Myers is'highly entertaining in the role of a gay, impoverished gentleman of the Paris boulevards. Judy King and Diana Miller are captivating demi-mdndaines. "I AM THE MAM." Rarely on local screens, will be seen a picture that is as highly entertaining, as gripping, as "I am the Man," Lionel Barrymore's latest production, which will be screened at the Maoriland Theatre on Monday evening. NiOi effort, no; technique, no subtlety, seems Jbeyond the power of this great actor to express. Whatever the demands of his part, he fulfils it with an ability seldom seen in any of the other much-vaunted stars of the screen.
"I am the Qvlan" is a vehicle particularly suited for Mr Barrymore's genius; and Chadwick Pictures Corporation, the producers, evinced much astuteness in the selection ictf this story for him. We recommend that all see.this picture.
Mr Barrymore is supported by an extremely capable case. Seena Owen plays with great feeling and charm, and the same may be said of the •others of this happily cast and happily played production.
