SHANNON CHORAL SOCIETY.
The Shannon Choral Society practices, always very interesting and enjoyable, were- made more so last week when Mrs H. B. Walker, of Levin, was a visitor to the practice and at the conclusion sang some six songs, much to the delight of the i choir. Mrs Walker possesses a very. rich and sweet soprano voice and her top notes are taken with ease and clarity. Had Mrs Walker been here, when the next concert takes place she would have gladly assisted the society in the programme but has promised to assist at some future date. Amongst the songs sung were: "A Request," "To a Miniature," "Summer, is Come," and a duet "Come, Sing to Me,' with Mr Hunter. The choir expressed their appreciation of Mrs Walker's kindness; supper was handed around and a pleasing social hour was spent. Mrs -Walker was accompanied by Mr Walker and her sister, Mrs Brooke, of Hamilton, who expressed their surprise to find such a large society in Shannon and re marked on the* enthusiasm and. sociability of the choir.
