■ —♦ VISIT FROM FOXTON CLUB. PUTTING COMPETITION. On Saturday the Shannon links were visited uy a' number, of Foxtou players m lames and 6. men making the trip-, and a most enjoyable day s golf eventuated. As far as possible first year players were selected from the shannon Ciub in order hoi make the games as even as possible, and both clubs’ members put up remarkably good scores, and what with a fine cool afternoon; with greens in excellent condition, and delicious afternoon tea supplied by the ladies, there was little left to be desired by the crowd of enthusiastic golfers present. The visit was merely an informal one, neither club seeking nor desiring the honours of victory. It is hoped that this visit will be the torerunner of many similar pleasant in-ter-club.matches. Next Saturday a putting competition for Mr Henry’s trophy will be held at the links. The putting will be in the form of “clock” go-lf, and will be carried out on No. 9 green. The green will be pegged out and players may take their turn before they start on their rounds. Mr Henry has very kindly promised to take charge of the competition. Time of commencing play 1 p.m.
