GENERAL DROP AT ADDINGTON.
PRIME CATTLE SHOWS IMPROyEMENT. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. At the Addington market, there were again heavy sheep yardings. The dry weather affected values. Store Sheeps—Shipped sheep, were very little less than usual. The sale commenced to slacken after mid-day and North island ewes, of which there were over 6000 forwards, eaSed on last week by 3/- a head. Local ewes were also well down.. Forward lambs sold at 25/6 to 28/10; ordinary, 21/9 to 24/9; medium, 20/- to 21/3; small, 16/9 to 19/6; cull, 12/. to 15/-; good half-bred wether lambs, 27/6; good two-toothed half-bred ewes, 38/9 to 46/3; extra good Romney cross twotooth ewes, 43/-; ordinary Romney cross two.tooth, 34/- to 38/6; good four, six and eight-tooth cross-bred ewes, 36/- to 37/6; ordinary 4, 6 and 8-tooth, 32/- to 35/6; good 4 and 5. year-old half-bred; 36/6 to 38/-; low. conditioned 4 and 5-year-old, 26/. to to 29/-; failing-mouthed oross-bred, 25/. to 28/3; aged, 19/6 to 22/-; four and six-toothed half-bred wethers, 32/- to 35/9; two-toothedh alf-bred wethers, 25/6 to 32/3. Fat Lambs. —A small yarding of 2850 head came forward. Values were on a par with recent sales and up to schedule values —ll£d to 12Jd. Extra prime lambs made 54/3; prime, 38/to 41/-; medium, 35/- to 37/6; light, 32/9 to 34/9; store lambs, 29/6, to 32/-.
Fat Sheep.—An average entry and steady sale. Exporters were operating freely for ewes. Extra prime wethers realised to 47/-; prinie, 28/- to 42/6; medium, 35/. to 37/9; light, 31/- to 34/-; rough, 2S/- to 30/.; extra prime ewes, 28/3; prime, 33/- to 37/-; medium, 29/6 to 32/6; light, 26/. to 29/-; aged, 22/- to 25/-. Fat Cattle.—A smaller entry, comprising 490 head, against recent average entries of 500 to 550. There was ah improvement for good prime cattle of up tb 25/- a head; but other qualities -were harder to sell. Extra prime 34/- to 36/-; medium, 30/- to 33/.; light, 25/- to 29/.; and rough, down to 15/.; extra prime steers fetched £l9; prime, £l4/15/- to £l6/10/-; ordinary, ££ll/10/- to £l4; light, £9/5/tb f 11/15/.; rough, £6 to £9; extra forward heifers, £11; prime, £9 to £ll/10/-; ordinary, £5 to £B/10/-; extra prime cows, £l2/12/6; prime, £B/10/- to £10; ordinary, £4 to £8; light, £3/15/- to £4/15/-; aged, £2/. 12/6 to £3/12/6. Vealers: Runners realised £6/7/6; good vealers, £3 to £4/15/-; good calves, 30/- to 55/-; small, 10/. to 25/-. Dairy Cattle.—Good quality lots sold well. Best , second, third and fourth oalvers made £lO to £l4/10/-; medium, £6 to. £9/10/-; extra! good springing heifers, £l6/5/-; good, £8 to £ll/10/-; medium, £5 to £7/10/.. Store cattle contained no quotable lines.
Fat Pigs.—Baconers were weaker and porkers firmer. Choppers, £3 to £6/10/-; light baconers, £3/15/- to £4! heavy. £4/10/- to £5; extra heavy, £5/5/- (average price per lb., 6d to 7sd) light porkers, £2/8/. to £2/15/-; heavy.. £2/17/6 to £3/3/- (average price per lb., 71d to B|d). Store Pigs.—-Prices 'were decidedly easier than the previous week. Weaners were 10/- to 14/-; extra, good, 20/-; small stofes, 21/_- to 25/-; medium, 30/- to 38/-; large stores, 40/ to 45/-; extra good large storey 56/.; sows in pig, £3/15/- to £4/10/-.
