BOWLING.

The local bowling club have received an invitation from the Foxton Club to send rinks to take part in their gala day on Wednesday next. All members who wish to take part are requested to hand in their names to the secretary. On Saturday next two local rinks will take part in a competition at Terrace End, which will be played in the evening by the aid of electric light. Mr J. Gagliardi will represent shannon in the Palmerston North Centre championship ni the singles. It has also been decided to enter rinks and pairs for the centre championships to be held on the following Saturdays. The committee have resolved to

close the local green after the Easter holidays to enable the Club to have the green top-dressed as menibers arc of opinion that this is bfidly needed. It lias been decided to do this workby voluntary labour with the help of donations and at the meeting on Wednesday night the sum of £6 was collected in the room for lhe purpose. It has also "been resolved by the menibers to have the electric light installed Qn the green early next season. In the meantime estimates will be received for the work and everything got in readiness. The following rhik will play at Terrace End on saiurday next for the Gala Day Tonniamcnt:—Brann, Jones, Bovis, Ti. spencer (skip).
