FAT STOCK MARKET.
SMALL YARDING AT ADDINGTON. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Lower yardinga were the rule today at ,the Addington market. Store ewes and wethers sold up to 2/- a head better; fat sheep were 1/- to 2/easier, fat lambs 1/6 easier ana fat cattle a shade better tha’a last week. Store sheep had a slightly smaller entry than for several weeks. The market was better for good ewes, particularly half-bred, and wethers by 2/- a head. Lambs being slightly primer than at last sale, a very buoyant sale resulted,, lines passed earlier in the day being sold later at owner’s reserves. Forward lambs made 28/.to 31/10; ordinary 25/6 to 27/6; thedium, 24/- to 25/3; small, 20/- to 23/6; cull, 14/6 to 19/3; first cross ewe, 33/2; shorti wether, 24/3; good half-bred wether, 28/3; good twotoothed half-bred ewe, 44/- to 46/3; good two-toothed threequarter-bred ewes, 40/- and 45/3; good two toothed Romney cross, 42/- to 45/-; ordinary two-toothed Romney cross, 37/6 to 41/-; two-too,thed Romney cross, 32/6 to 37/-; good four, six and eight toothed Romney cross, 40/6 to 44/-; ordinary four, six and eight-tooth Romney cross, -33/- to 37/9; low conditioned four, six and eight-tooth Romney cross, 28/- to 30/-; sound and failing mouthed cross-bred* 27/6 to 32/3; failing mouthed half-bred, 27/1 to 81/6; good four years’ old half-bi'ed, 40/- to 44/3; good four and five years’ old half-bred* 38/- to 41/3; aged, 17/- to 21/9; low-condi-tioned and aged, 10/ to 16/6; two, four and six toothed Romney cross wethers, 28/- to 34/3; ,two-toothed three-quarter-bred . wethers,, 27/- to 32/-; two-toothed half-bred, 25/- to 26/-; forward four and six-toothed halfbred, 33/6 to 35//.
Fat iambs.—347o head were penned the offering of mixed quality, o’! account of the waterfront trouble and on an under strength board of butchers at the freezing works. The market was above the export Schedule prices by a half-penny pe,r pound. Prime under 36 made 125 d; light seconds and overweights from -1-lid to 12Jd; extra prime lambs* 46/10; prime, 38/6 to 42/-; medium, 36/- to 38/-; light, 33/- to 35/*6; store lambs 20/- to 32/6 Fat Sheep.—A slacker sale. Exporters bought much less freely than usual and wethers were doWn by 1/c and ewes by to 2/- a head. Extr;’ prime wethers, 45/10; prime, 38/6 to 42/6; medium, 35/6 to 38/-; light, 33/- to 35/.; extra prime ewes, 44/1; prime, 33/- to 37/-; medium, 30/. to 32/6; light, 26/- to 29/6; ordinary 22/. to 26/-. Fat Cattle. —A smaller entry comprising 432 head and a steadying-up of prices, cow and heifer beef being 20/. per head better than last week. With big bodies, there was little change. Good serviceable beef averaged from 33/_ to 38/- per 100 lbs.; extra prime steers, £l6/17/6; prime, £l4/10/. to £l6/5/-; medium, £l2, £l4/16/.; light, £9/10/- to £ll/10/.; rough, £7/12/6 to £9; exti’a prime heifers, £l3/2/6; prime, £9/5/-to £ll/5/.; ordinary, £5/16/. to £9; extra prime cows, £l3/17/6; prime, £B/10/- to £lO/15/-; ordinary, £6/10/. to £B/5/-; old, £3/7/6 to £5/7/6. Vealers.—A large entry. Small handyjweight calves sold well. Runners realised £s'/15/-; good vealers, £3 to £4/15/.; good calves, £l/16/- to £2/15/-; small, 15/. to 30/-. Dairy Cattle. —An entry of 66 head.—Good cows met with a keen demand. Extra good second, third ana fourth calvers fetched £l7/10/-; good, £l4/10/.; medium, £6 and £7; best springing heifers, £7 to £l2/10/-; medium, £4/10/.; cows in milk, £3 to £5. \ • 1 Store Cattle.—A 'medium entry, with a dull demand. Two and three-year steers brought £4; two and three-year heifers, £2/18/6 to £B/9/-; good cows, £2/5/- and £B/10/.,
Fat Pigs.—Porkers wei*e a shade better and baconers about the same. Choppers sold at £3 to £6; light baconers, £3/15/- to £4/5/.; heavy, £4/10/- to £6 (average price per lb., 6d to 7d); light porkers, 50/- and 57/6; heavy, £3 to £3/8/- (average price per lb., 73 to 8d). Store Pigs.— A large entry, and the demand for all classes was easier. Small weaners, 10/. to 15/-; better, 18/- to 22/_; small stores, 25/- to 28/; medium, 30/ to 38/-; large, 45/to 53/-; sows in pig, £3/12/. to £4/15/-.
