BATSMAN'S DISMISSAL.
BALL REBOUNDS OFF BATSMAN'S / HEAD. A peculiar and an unfortunate incident occurred in the Plunket Shield match on Saturday between Wellington and Qtago. The incident is perhaps without parallel. G. R. DiCkins>on (Otago) was. bowling and W. S. Brice (Wellington) was batting. The latter endeavoured to guide a fast delivery round to the ■le* side, but the ball glanced off the bat with lightning speed and stmok the batsman on the head. The ball rebounded off Brice's head into Dickinson's hands, and tttie bowler took a fine catch which caused the Wellington man's dismissal.. ; Bricc was rendered unconscious by the Wow, and "had to be carried off the field: The injury necessitated his receiving two stitches in the head. He was able to take the field after the tea ariionrnment in the afternoon. A similar occurrence took place in a tost match in England in r3£t, when .T. M. Gregory hit J. T. Tyldesley on the bead and the ball rebounded on to the wicket. Tyldesley was also rendered unconscious.
