CHILD SCALDED TO DEATH.
FATALITY AT IHAKARA.
The death occurred in the Palmerston North Hospital at 4 p.in. on Saturday afternoon, of Betty' MoLqod, the three-year-old twin daughter <off Mr Adam McLeod, farmer, o.f Ihakara, as the result of injuries received through falling info a bucket of scalding water on Thursday morning. An inquest. was held yesterday by the District Coroner, Mr T. Brown, when from the evidence it would appear that Mrs McLeod, who was washing at the time, had momentarily put down a bucket Qf hot water in the yard while she. attended to the baby, whom she, heard crying, and that while she was away the little, girl fell into the bucket, receiving a very severe scalding about the body. Medical attendance was secured and the child ordered to the Palmerston North hospital, where death took place. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
General sympathy will be extended to the bereaved parents in their sad loss.
