“FIGHT IN’ MAD” TONIGHT. Ail day long on the dusty road that seemed never to end, from • early morning until the dead, hat heat oi late afternoon, found both - Bud Meuraw and the horse ihe rode, in the border town of Jericho, dog-tired, not and wanting to be let alone.. But Jericno let no one alone. A man on a porch opposite where Bud’s Jiorse lay down by the hitehing-pqst, laughed long and loud at the sight—tong enough certainly tq make Bud figUtin’ mad. “You can laugh at me,’’ he said, “but you can’t laugh at my horse.” Whereupon the mirth broke forth again, and the answer came, “I’m laughin’ at both of you.” Bud helped the man’s friends apply restoratives, the court-plaster and the poultice for the two mouse-coloured eyes. You’ll like Bud’s story, “Fightin’ Mad” at the Maoriland to-night, “THE WORLD’S A STAGiE.” A powerful story by 'Elinor Glyn has been picturised under the above title and will head Wednesday’s bill. The scene, is laid, chiefly ait Bollywood, the American film manufacturing centre and closely concerns the industry. “DOROTHY VERNON OF HADDON HALL.”
The picture version of, this sterling English historical, drama has become as popular as. the stage play and the book and it should be warmly welcomed at the Maoriland Theatre on Friday, especially with Mary pickford in the name part. She should be able to play the role of Dorothy, Sir George Vernon’s wayward daughter, to perfection. The period deals with one of the most picturesque in English history, with Queen Elizabeth and Mary Stuart well in the picture, and the action centering around the plotting to put Mary on the throne of England. The eventful romance of the fair Dorothy is of course the mam human interest/of the story, and there are some thrilling and dramatic climaxes as the story proceeds.- Shown in conjunction with the Black and White Orchestra on Friday night it should attract and please a large audience.
