A SPORTING PROBLEM.
A Shannon man who went- to the Marton races forwards the following problem for publication:—-A man journeys to tlhe races, taking with him £55, which he intends to deposit on four horses. He bets in this way: £2O qn “A” which loses, leaving £35 £2O on “B” which loses, leaving £ls £9 on “C” which loses, leaving £6 £6 on “D,” which also loses. £55 / £56 He is still wondering where, the extra £1 came from.
