CONFERENCE OF ENGINEERS TA-OAYj, FACILITIES FOR MILK CARRIAGE. During the .week the County EnI gineer has been engaged in an examination of the Shannon, Jbridge, the ! road span of which was washed away I on and also |u recovering as much of'the timber as. possible. Soundings at the ibridge reveal tuut very fexteinsive .scouring .has taken | place at the scene of the collapse, so I much so as to gravely endanger the i first main span which joined up with ' the roa<l span. I It was expected that a Public Works iDepartlment . (Engineer, Mr. Ronayne, would arrive at the Bridge to-day and in company with Mr Anderson ' (County Engineer) make a thorough investigation. , In the meantime a quantity of wire rope and other gear is being obtained and it is hoped to put a wire across by the end of the week to enable the milk to he brought across to the factory. At present the cream is being brought by motor lorry to Shannon .via Palmerston, a route involving a journey of from 5Q to 60 miles each way.
