D’Ath he was outpaced. Soon alter, the whistle went lor, hall' time.
. By the way Otaki had. livened up at the end of the first spell it was thought that in changing ends they would increase their score, but although they got in some fine work and had Shamjpn hard pressed on occasions, they lailed to penetrate the latter’s defence. The spell had not been in progress long when Moses-got away with the ball at bis toe and bad passed all opposition, except Dalzell at lull back, who- in his attempt to stop him incurred a penalty for obstruction, Otaki being awarded a free kick. The kick at goal missed. 'An exchange of kicks followed, Otaki ultimately penning Shannon in their 25, where Otaki, depending on their back division, were throwing the ball about in great style. Shannon’s defence was equal to. the occasion, relief finally coming by Kiriona forcing. On the leather going out Shannon forwards, headed by Johansen, took play to Otaki’s 25, arid for a few minutes it looked as though Shannon might even matters, but it was not to be, Otaki taking play to midfield where from now on to‘ call of time it remained.’ Mr Bevan controlled the game. FOXTON 9 y. SHANNON NIL. The above teams .met at Foxton -and after a fast game Shannon had to suffer defeat by two tries and a penalty goal to nil. Although Shannon
werq without the services of Cole, Taylor, and Jamieson, the latter being in camp at Trentham, they have no excuses to make as no doubt Foxton t i were the better team on the day and , deserved , the victory. The Shannon boys give praise to the, referee Mr I Dunn, who gave every satisfaction to [both teams. ALL BLACKS WIN. DEFEAT N.S.W.
