SHANNON, BOWLING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETIN.G. The. anuuial meeting of the shannon Bowling Club .wag held on Tuesday evening, when there was a good- attendance of members. The president (Mr E. Spencer) presided. The president in his report said he - felt sure that the past year compared favourably with previous years. Ho regretted that the Club competitions lagged and were not completed. In several visits to sister clubs, he said, they met with splendid welcomes. They were at present on a good work in striving to get funds for the Club and he felt sure that with a newly top-dressed green the Club would be in for another happy year. Before vacating the chair he said he would like to move “That the members of the Bowling Club, regretting the departure of Mr' and Mrs Murphy from our midst, place on record a vote of thanks and appreciation for the splendid services rendered to. the club and wish them every success and happiness in their new sphere.” This was carried. •
The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr T. Gardner; vice-president; Mr W. Clayton ; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr CTonquest; lion, auditor, Mr J. T. Bovis; general committee, Messrs Gunning, E. Butt, G. Quarrie, E. J. Spencer, J. Murray, J. Beard, J. T. Bovis, and A. Morgan; refreshment committee, Messrs Morgan, Watterston and B. Spencer; sole selector, Mr E. J. Spencer; green committee, Messrs Clayton, Murray and E. Spencer; delegate to Centre, Mr E. J. Spencer. It was also moved that a letter of thaalks be sent to Mr G. Stephenson for- his past services as Centre delegate. Messrs E. Bptt and W. H. Gunning were appointed Shield delegates. The following new members were elected Messrs Jas. Hallam, C. Hook, Cronquest., J. Curran, A. Mason, and W. Murdoch.
Tt was decided that the. president and secretary, for the .time being be empowered to. operate on. the Bank account.
That the question of a croquet green be left, in the hands of the committee to report at a meeting later. Mr Beard was appointed organiser to form the Club. That the sendees of a bowl tester be obtained if possible. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the retiring president, to the outgoing officers and to the ladies for attending to the refreshments.
