This is a story of placer mining and claim jumping in North-west Canada. Ben Darby was the most feared and respected young fellow in the snowy gulch country. He was called I'Woll.” Among the claim jumpers' who sought the prpperty worked by WoOf and his dad, Pancake, w'as a big roughneck who also loved the pretty daughter of the leader of the claim jumpers.. While Wolf is away at the war the claim jumpers send Pancake ove" >. th-> falls in a canoe and jump hH claim. He is not killed and meets Wolf in Montreal and tells him about it. Eventually Wolf wins back the claim and his girl-but Pancake is killed by the crooks. It is a gripping drama, logical, well-acted, w r ell-direct_ ed end sceuically beautiful.
