THE BAZAAR.

The bazaar and baby show held by the committee ' of the Fanners' l,Queen in the Druids' Hall, on Saturday •ai'temoon and evening, was a. t pronounced success and as a riesu(t the funds for the candidature' of Miss Easton will receive a decided; lilt. An energetic committee, had thef various stalls. nicely arranged and well stocked and there were side shows .and <to plldase : all. During the ai'temoon the baby show was held and' created quite a lot of interest among the moithers, a good number of .entries coming forward which arousied. keen competition. Nurse Link--later made the awaxds, her decisions giving every satisfaction. Afternoon tea, was obtainable and big business was reploKted in this department, which was. undeir the supervision of Mesdames C. Easton, W. Easton and C. Hardie. The bazaar in the evening was well attended and a most enjoyable time Was spent by those pitesent, the whole, proceedings being brought to a close .witfti-'ian impromptu dance The committee wish to thank all the ladies who so generously gave dona- ' tions and worked so hard to makefile bazaar such a success. Following are the names of those who had charge of the various stalls and side shows:—Produce and fancy goods, Mesdames Terry and Peach; -sweet stall, Mrs and Miss Richardson; ice cream, stall, Miss E. Easton; fortune telling, Mrs Webb; hoop-las and; side shows, Messrs Alloway and R. McKenzie. Results oof Saturday night's competitions :—rFlour (1001 b)., lucky numbery Stan. Pedersen, 187; cake guessing weight, 61b 7ozs, Rita Terry; nightgown, guessing number peas in bottle, correct number 929, B. Trefmewan ,917; weight of sheep (dead weight), J. Conchie, correct weight 951bs; half cord firewood, correct numbep 234, Mrs Petersen, 233; men's nail s driving, woollen waistcoat, Mr J. Gray; ladies' nail driving, iced cake, Miss E. Swindlehurst. . MAORI BALL
The MaorL Ball in aid of- funds for the Maori' Queen candidate (Miss L. Kohika) hleld in tlhe .Druids? Hall on Friday'evening was well attended and proved an enjoyable function. The hall'" was prettily decorated with red and wh'ifte gtreauters (the Queen's colours I, with Chinese lan terns suspended'from the centre, ,and together with the colouring oi the dresses worn i/v the ladies had a. most pleasing effect;:" The floor was in good order .and combined with the music supplied by * the Maoriland , String Band materially adtMl u> the enjoyment of the dancers. Mr J. McDonald carried ouit the duties. of M.C. .The supper arrangements in charge of a ladies' committee consisting of Me'sdamies Clherry, Keenan,, and Meiv wood, and Miss L. Wikohika, was all that could be desined. The whole of thie' arrangements were excellent and tlie .committee are to be complimented on 'the success of the ball. '

GENERAL NOTES. ' Guessing the weight, of ham, at'the Maori Stall resulted in Mesdanies Burroughs and T. Dal/ell ■ each guessing the correct weight l§ilbs. At the Sports stall the lucky number .for the silver jam dish was 23, which was Weld by Mr W. Quarrie. i It is the intention of the committee of -T.h 6 Sports Queen (Miss E. King) to give a concert, at .an early date, and as it will be something special, the performers are now practising hard. The committee of the Farmers' Queen Miss E. East on) are holding a dance in tbJe! Parish Hall on Wednesday evening; also one at Makerua on Friday night. ' The executive on . Friday evening resolved that thle* prize for the tug-of-Wa.r sha.ll be paid out of the general fund in connection with the wind up bazaar and that tie door and supper room receipts be divided amongst the four queens. The drawing for stalls at the,bazaar will take place this weeK.
