SHANNON’S HEALTH CONDITIONS.
THE INSPECTOR’S REPORT.
The following is the half-yearly re- , port of Mr J. W. Huggins, Inspector ! of Health, on the Borough of Shannon :—-During the past six months -there have been two cases of diph- | therm, on© of scarlet fever, one oi pneumonia, and three of pneumonic influenza, two. proving fatal, notified in the Borough. In ail these cases, visits were made, and steps were taken to prevent the spread of infection. Considerable time was spent by the Medical Officer of Health and myself, on, the proposed Borough water supply, and aIL suggested , methods and sources were fully investigated, the results of which have been reported to the Council. The local saleyards are not satisfactory and the owners 'are; asked to concrete or pave most of 'the pens as soon as the necessary legal steps are taken. A separate report on thjg will be forwarded. The Borougli’*‘nigbt. soil depot has been visited and found as satisfactory, as possible. Whehs the water supply is available, improvements for washing purposes could be installed. Complaints and nuisances have: been attended and improvements carried out where necessary. Inspection of the business area and portions of the residential urea have been made, and generally speaking, matters are satisfactory when ifc is con ‘ sidered that your Borough has neither a drainage system nor a rubbish removal system!.
