TOKOMARU NEWS.
(From our Own Correspondent.) The Tokomaru footballers held a successful dance on Friday night, the music being supplied by Mr McGrath, of the- transmission camp. The residents here deplore the loss of Mr Quinn, who- has been transferred from the local railway station, to Wellington. Mr Reg. Rowlands sustained a nasty injury to hi® hand on Thursday last, which necessitated a visit to the doctor and it will -be so-me considerable time before he will -have the use of his hand 'again; Miss Law, late of Shannon, is oaii a visit to Tokoma.ru, and hopes to visit her native village ere returning to her home at Whakaitane.
A children's ball, inaugurated by several local ladies, is to be held on the 29th, and a good attendance is hoped for, as this seems to be a popular form of entertainment here.
The usual fortnightly euchre and dance in aid of church fun.ds is postponed this week owing to show festivities.
