POWER BOARD OFFICES.
* TO JOIN WITH LEVIN BOROUGH SCHEME. VEXED QUESTION SETTLED. The Horowhenua. Electric Power Board at its last meeting considered the question of the site of its offices. Thto; matter has occupied considerable time at recent meetings one section of the Board favouring the erection of its own offices on the land already purchased at Weraroa, the alternatives being the purchase of laud, and erection of offices nearer town, or the acceptance of a lease of a suite of offictes in the proposed municipal buildings to be erected by the Levin Borough Council. The discussion to-day took place in committee. A motion by Messrs D. W. Matheson and A. Seifert: “That the Board's offices be located on a site as near as possible to the main business area of Levin,” was moved. Messrs A. A. Brown and C. Kilsby moved an amendment, “That, the que s . tion of site of offices be held over for the consideration of the new Board.” The amendment was lost and the motion carried by 5 to 3. Mr A. Seifert then moved and MrW H. Gunning seconded: “That the Board rent offices in thie; Levin Borough Council’s proposed building at a rent not exceed- , ing £l5O per annum for a term of seven years.” This motion was put and carried.
