MANGAHAO HYDRO NOTES.

Mr Furkert (Chief Engineer and Under Secretary) paid a visit of inspection to the works on Friday, accompanied by District Engineer Dinnie.
Mr Harry Talbot commenced duies as schoolmaster at Arapeti on November 1. The, Wellington Education Board have appointed Messrs. E. L. Wain and E. Hjorth as School Commissioners for the Camp School.
A lantern lecture on “Milford Sounds and the Cold Lakes’’ was given by Mr J. W. Gibson in the recreation hut on Friday evening to a fair audience. Mrs J. Hurrell has returned to Arapeti, after a brief holiday in the north.
WORKER’S HAND BLOWN OFF. Mr J. Malneek, a workman at the River Camp, had the misfortune to have his hand blown off at the wrist through a premature explosion whilst getting firewood on Sunday. Dr. Evans came out and attended the sufferer, who was removed to the Palmerston Hospital. He is a Russian who has been six years in the Dominion.
