J The Wellington touring team met j Bidler at Westport and won a good game by 11 to 6. The University match, New Zealand v. Sydney, played at Auckland, was won by New Zealand by 23 to 22. Southland carried on its series of
victories by beating Taranaki at Invercargill by 6 to 3. Canterbury beat Auckland by 31 to 15, the winners having the better of the game all .through.
Hawke’s Bay, holders of the Ran.furly Shield, had no trouble with Golden Bay, winning by 28 to 3. In Wellington, Petone.beat Poneke 10—5 for the city championship. There were 18,000 people present. Arrangements are well ahead for the rep', game, Horowhenua v. Golden Bay at Otaki on Wednesday. The weather holds out every prospect of being fine, and the game should he played under the best conditions.
