SUCCESSFUL FACTORIES.
SHANNON, LEVIN AND KUKU WIN AT HAMILTON. At the Hamilton winter show, which was opened this week, the three principal factories in the Horowhenua district, Shannon, Levin and Kuku, were successful competitors, the two former in butter and the latter in cheese. This speaks well for the excellent grade of produce being manufactured by the coast factories, and the respective managers may well be congratulated on the liberal measure of success that has come their way. This district, of course, is one of the most favoured in the Dominion for carrying on dairy farming, and the continued successes that have been ac hieved by its factories will go a long way in keeping the district prominently before the public, and prove an excellent advertisement for Horowhenua and the factories concerned.
The Shannon factory won the Dominion champion, box of butter with 96 points, and tied lor first with Golden Bay and Levin lor box of butter by members of Factory Managers’ Association.
Levin tied for first for box of butter by members of the Factory Managers’ Association with 95 points, was second for butter made by first assistants with 94£ points, and second in the King George Challenge Cup, butter lor export (open), with 95£ points. In the cheese class'es, Kuhn was most successful. It won the Dominion Open Championship with 95£ points, first for case by members of the Factory Managers’ Association with 95£ points and tied for first in the Viking Rennet special with the same number of points. Second prizes were awarded for case of cheese by first assistants with 94 points, and for case of medium, for local trade with similar points.
