During investigations in the valley of the Rangltikei. an officer of the State Forest Service came across a curiosity in the shape oi a line kahikatea tree, nearly a hundred feet in length of trunk, which, probably under the agency of the wind, had become bent like a gigantic bow. Tire foliage of tbe tree, which was stilt alive, touched tbe ground. The tree stood on the outskirts of a small cluster of excellent specimens of the same, variety. The shapely trunks towered straight as lances lo a uniform height of from 00 to 100 feet, and were crowned with heads of verdant green. In connection with the Farmers’ Cooperative Wholesale Federation of New Zealand, the. Daily Mail states that a London office has been established with a staff of experts to handle consignments oi meat, wool, dairy produce, grain, etc. \Mr A. E. Gough, who during the war period was in charge oi the dairy division of the Ministry of Food, has been appointed manager. Quite recently the New Zealand Federation joined forces with both the Australian and South African Federations, and thus the London organisation is already handling large shipments of produce from New Zealand, Australia and Africa.
