The weather kept fine ior the first Gala Day arranged by the Manawatu Bowling Centre, and held on the Shannon greens fast Wednesday. Six rinks were occupied, and the grounds bore quite an animated appearance. Afternon tea was provided by the bowlers’ wives and gijeat thanks are due to them for the much-appreciated refreshments. Foxton (Whibley)—23, v. Shannon (Carter, Watterston, Clayton, Roach s) —l6. The second Gala Day was held at the Terrace End greens, Palmerston North, on Saturday last. Shannon club' was represented by E, Spencer, Murphy, Anderson, Gagliardi (s), who met and were defeated by a Palmerston North team skipped by Simmonds. •Ad Triangular Match The'" Shannon rinks are: E. Spencer, Knowles, Murphy, Fargher (s); Carr, E. Butt, Gunning, Roach (s); emergencies, B. Spencer and W. Clayton. TRIANGULAR SHIELD MATCH WEDNESDAY. The first round of the Triangular Shield Competition will played at Levin on Wednesday between the Shannon, Foxton and Levin clubs. The following rinks will represent the L«vin club:— Clements, Ryder, Pyke (skip). Roe, Brown, Percy, Rankin (skip). Pink, Lancaster, Channings, Clements, jun. (skip). Wilson, Reading, Harris, Pollock (skip). . - Emergencies: Tait, Ingram, Rhodes and Hall. There was a good attendance of members on the local green on Saturday, when practice games were played in view of Wednesday’s competition. The green is fast getting into playing order, and- should be in firstclass condition by Wednesday.
