BOWLING.
OPENING OF LEVIN GREEN
Members were well represented at the official opening oi the tflub’s green yesterday. The weather conditions militated against the display of any bowling prowess: The president oi the club, Mr E. b. Lancaster, in a happy speech, made
reference to pleasant days spent with, and the hospitality shown by the bowling clubs of Foxton, Otaki and Shannon on their opening days. He had looked forward to extending to them a welcome as hearty and spontaneous, but he was sorry to say that the inclemency of the, weather had prevented their attendance. After referring to the fine appearance of the club’s grounds and the improvements effected -during the off season, the president conveyed the thanks of the club to Messrs W. Tait, J. Pollock, P. Clements, jun., and J. Derham for their gratuitous services on ground improvement. He certainly thought their work "merited a special meed of kudos.
• Mrs Pollock was then called on to throw the jack, and the president declared the green open for the season.
