DUNEDIN, March I. Henry Braydor, 45 years of age, was | drowned in the Cloths, sear Miller’s Flat, by falling off Bennett's dredge. He leaves A \ wife and young family. For only one of the first thirteen offered was there any competition, and in that case two sections in the Crookston district were submitted at an npset rental of £7. There was spirited bidding till they were knocked down at £2O. For three runs there was no offer, and the rest were sold at the upset. For one of the Silver Peak sections £sl was obtained, being an advance of £2B on the upset. For another in the same district the biddings rose quickly from £55 to £B2, and for part of the Bemnore run, started at £2O, £6l was obtained.

An important mining ease was decided in the Warden's Court here to-day. Farqcbar MoEeturie and George Howells sued Donald McKenzie for a one-third portion of a twelfth sbars in the Golden Site claim, at Wilson’s River, on an alleged partnership which bad not been reduced to writing. After a hearing occupying two daye Warden Bawsen held that the partnership was established and made an order accordingly. Costa amounting to £BB were allowed.
