—.—**. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Mackenzie County Council was held at the County Council offic, Fairlie, on Monday, 6tb February. Present—Messrs James I. Milne (chairman), John McGregor, 8. B. Dickson, and Arthur Hope. The clerk and engineer’s report was read and considered. Correspondence was read as follows From the Steward of Education Reserves, Christchurch, acknowledging the receipt of the Council's letter regarding the position of the street lines in the Albury township, and stating that at the next meeting of the vena*
missionere he would bring the matter before the board for its consideration. From the Secretary to the Treasury, Wei* lington, stating that the Colonial Treasurer had provisionally approved' of the Council's application tor a loan of £I6OO for the ooe* struction of the Ash wick Flat water races o*» condition that the Council took all the steps necessary to comply with the provision* ef The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1880.—The clerk was directed to fill up the necessary form showing that the required steps bad been taken and forward it to (he Colonial Treasurer. district surveyor, its oi touBJiM "plying for hire within the county to prevent infringements of by-law No. 5. It was resolved that a meeting of the Council be held on ISth March next for the purpose of considering whether the representation of the different ridings requires read* iustment in accordance with section 4$ of The Counties Act, 1886.
