The oratorio, “The Messiah,” was performed at the Choral Festival last night, and was a great success. The audience numbered fully 8000 persons and the band and chorus 1400. Cricket. The cricket match between the Victorian and New South Wales elevens was resumed to-day, when the visitors, with one wicket down and 76 runs to their credit, continued their first innings, which closed for a total of 247. The highest scorers were A* Bannerman, 78 ; W. L. Murdoch, 71 ; and Spofforth, 31. At the close of. the day’s play the homo team in their second innings had scored 60 for the loss of 1 wicket.
