LATE BRITISH AND FOREIGN NEWS.
Commander Hubert M. Greenfield has been dismissed H.M.S. Phoenix, by Court Martial for negligence, whereby she was wrecked at Prince Edward Island last September. AConservative candidate, MrEgerton, has been returned for Wigan. Major-General Baynes, Colonial Secretary, and the Chief of Police, of the Island of Gibrulter, have been dismissed by Earl Kimberley, for approving the surrender to Spain of two Cuban refugees. The Postmaster-General (Right Hon. Mr Fawcett) is in a precarious state. It is believed typhoid fever has supervened.
Michael Davitt having been summoned in reference to his inflammatory speeches in Ireland, intends testing the case and justifying his action.
