ITbu Times Special Wire.] Dry Docks for Wellington. Wellington, August 10. At a meeting of the City Council the Mayor said there was a probability of direct steam communication with Great Britain being established shortly, and he thought it was necessary without any delay to take the initiative steps in establishing dry docks in Wellington. A harbor Committee was appointed to confer with a commiitteo of the Harbor Board on the subject. It was suggested that a portion of the proposed Te Aro reclamation should be given for a site. Arrived from Glasgow. The barque Algoa Bay, 100 days from Glasgow, with a cargo of water works plant, arrived this morning. Dunedin Exhibition. Dunedin, Aug. 12. It is stated the expenses of the recent exhibition were £1,100; receipts, about £IBOO.
