THE TRANSVAAL.
• ■<> Capetown, July 23. Telegrams arc to hand from Pretoria, in the Transvaal, announcing that since the conclusion of the draft convention by the Royal Commission, a hitch has occurred in further negotiations which have been opened between the Commission and the Boer leaders. The difficulty', it is feared, may delay the Transvaal settlement. News is also to hand from Pretoria that the trial has been concluded of the Boers who were arrested and charged with the murder of Captain Elliott, a British officer, while he was unarmed and a prisoner of warden parole during the war. The jury', which was composed of Dutch residents, has returned a verdict of not guilty, and the prisoners have been released.
