[Eeuteb’s Aoency.l Melbourne, July 1. Arrived —Union Company’s steamship Arawata, from the Bluff, this morning. The Intercolonial Football match between teams of Victoria and New South Wales took place to-day, and resulted in an easy victory for the former. The Eoyal Princes accompanied by His Excellency the Governor, visited the Caulfield races to-day. The loss sustained by Messrs Fieldham Jacobs and Co. by the fire on their premises last night is estimated at £20,000. The insurances include £2OOO in the National Company, of New Zealand. The Detached Squadren sails for Sydney next week, and from thence will proceed to Auckland. A destructive fire occurred last night in Queen street, on the premises of Messrs Feldheim, Jacobs, and Co., tobacco importers. It raged for some time, and completely gutted the building. A grand ball was given by the Mayor last night in the Town Hall to the Eoyal Princes. Fully two thousand persons were present, and the affair was most successful. Sydney, July 1. The E.M.S. City of Sydney arrived this afternoon from San Francisco,, via Auckland. Parliament will meet for the despatch of business on Tuesday, the 12th inst. Brisbane, July 1. The schooner May Queen, in addition to the news of the massacre of some of her crew at the Islands, reports that Mr McDonald, a recruiting agent there was killed by the natives. The attack was it, is stated, entirely unprovoked.
