[Ebutee’s Agenct.l The “ Bulletin” Libel Case. Sydney, May 21. Enthusiastic preliminary meetings were held last night at the Theatre Eoyal and at Burwood in reference to the yerdicfc recently delivered in the
“ Bulletin ” libel case. Resolutions were passed at both meetings that a subscription list be opened to indemnify the proprietors of the paper for the costs of the trial, which are estimated at £I2OO. £IOO was promised at the Theatre Royal after the meeting was over, and £2O at Burwood, Large committees are being organised to carry, out the resolutions passed. Steamer AshoreThe Orient steamer Pot osi, after leaving her ancorage for England, grounded at Clarkes Island. After remaining for eleven hours she was got off by tugboats and returned to her moorings. A diver is to examine her to-day and report whether she is seaworthy or not.
The Orient Company’s steamship, Potosi, which ran aground on Clarke’s Island, was examined by a diver to-day and found undamaged. She therefore proceeds on her voyage. Reform. BillMelbourne, May 21. In the Legislative Assembly yesterday the debate on the Reform Bill was resumed, but was subsequently adjourned without any decision having been arrived at.
