BOBBERY AT AUCKLAND.

SECOND EDITION

Auckland, May 13. Another cashbox robbery was com mitted to-night at the '• Observer ” office, almost identical with that at the City Council offices. The proprietor, Mr Eathbone, locked up the week’s takings, £69, of which £25 was in cheques, at 5.30 p.m., intending to bank it in the morning. On coming hack to the office after tea at 6.30 the front and back doors were open. The cashbox had been taken out and prized open with a chisel belonging to the premises, the cheques left, and £53 in cash stolen. Apparently it was someone who knew the run of the office and habits and movements of the proprietor.
