[Reuteb’s Aoenoy.l The Conference. Sydney, Jan. 14. The Intercolonial Conference to-day adopted resolutions that a request should be sent to the Imperial authorities that the number of vessels of the Navy in Australian waters should be increased. The resolution of the Hon. Wrq. Morgan, Chief Secretary of South Australia, in favor of a uniform tariff for the colonies, based on that of Now South Wales, was brought forward, but on the motion of Mr Berry discussion on it was adjourned until the rest of the programme is disposed of. A scheme for the regulation of Chinese immigration, proposed by the Western Australian delegates, also occupied the attention of the Conference, but no definite resolution on the subject was adopted. Banking: Prosperity. The Commercial Banking Company of Sydney has declared a dividend for the half year at the rate of 25 per cent per annum. Exhibition Awards. Melbourne, Jan. 18. The following Exhibition awards are announced : Second prizes : Win. Forster, Christchurch, for life-saving vest ; Lyttelton Harbor Board, for model of Lyttelton harbor, showing works and improvements; Thos. Thomson, Bluff, for model of ships’ compasses and anchors, etc. ; Pears Elliott Warburton, of Palmerston North, for canvas boat. Third prizes : John Blackett, Wellington, for lighthouse chart ; Thcs. George, Dunedin, for plans and soundings of Otago harbor ; Thos. Hargreaves,Nelson, for model wave-power engine ; Captain Halliday, Wellington, foi plan of Wellington harbor ; G. H. Luxford, Wellington, model of Maori canoe ; William McLennon, Dunedin, working model of boat with propeller ; John Waymouth, Auckland, for models of yachts.
