[By Telegraph.] (Per Rotorua at the Bluff.) VICTORIA. Melbourne, Doc. 28. About 10,000 visitors attended the Exhibition on Christmas and on Boxing Day 8000. Intense heat, accompanied by blinding dust storms prevailed in Melbourne. On Sunday the temperature reached 144 degrees in the sun, and 102 in the shade. A warm debate occurred in the Assembly on Thursday re abolition of the local Artillery Corps. O’Shannassy pointed out that the colony was pledged to Jervois’ scheme. Berry said the Government would keep sufficient men to look after the stores, and that no more were necessary. Upon division 38 were for disbandment, and 23 against. NEW SOUTH WALES. The weather is extremely hot, accompanied by bush fires and dust storms. TASMANIA. Great heat prevailed in Hobart Town on Sunday, followed by a hurricane which continued during Monday. Two persons were drowned in the Permaih. A cricket pavilion was blown down, killing one child and injuring a dozen other persons who were taken to the hospital.
