WAIMATE EACES

The annual races at Wairaate took place on Saturday on Mr Studholme’s estate. There was a moderate attendance and the races were well contested. Mr M. Studholme olftciated as Judge, Mr McGoverin as starter, and Mr G. R. Freeman as Clerk of Course.

The following is the result of the various events: —

Handicap Hurdle Race, of 30 sovs., 2 miles ; over 8 flights of hurdles. Mr W. McKay’s br g Shiilelagh, aged, Bst 71b ... 1 Mr C. W. Bourne’s b g Robin Hood, aged, 9st 101 b 2 Mr J. Rick us’ b g Mokarakara, 4yrs, Bst 3

Milo and .Little John were scratched. Mokarakara baulked at the first hurdle and a pretty race ensued between Shillelagh and Robin Hood.
