[Reuter’s Agency.l A Chance for the Hangman. Sydney, Dec. 8. A shanty-keeper has been murdered at Albury by a swagman, who also attempted to murder his daughter. He fired the hut for the purpose of concealing the crime. The murderer has been arrested. Privileged Butchers. H.M. corvette Emerald, belonging to the Australian squadron, has left for the Solomon Group in order to avenge the murder of the Commander and several of the crew o| H.M. schooner Sandfl}’. A Difficult Divorce. In the divorce case Dibbs v. Dibbs, the jury could not come to an agreement and was therefore discharged without giving a verdict. Bnd of a Bower. Obituary—James Punch, the well known publican and ex-oarsman, who took Trickett to England in 1876, when the latter defeated Sadler. Deceased was 40years of age. A lead-proof Botharlo. Mr Norton who was shot at Dubbo, is steadily recovering.
