[Reuter’s Agency, j Rioting In Armagh. London, Dec. 7. A serious riot has occurred at Brookborough, County of Armagh, Ireland, owing to a land meeting held there being prohibited by the authorities. The Riot Act was read. Large bodies of the police and dragoons were culled out, when the rioters were dispersed. Parnell Honored. Mr Parnell has been presented with the freedom of the city of Waterford, Ireland. On the War-path. San Francisco, Dec. 7. Five Russian war vessels, stationed in the Pacific, have sailed from different ports to Japan. The object of their mission has not yet transpired. General Grant disposed of. Washington, Dec. 7. President Hayes has made a recommendation to the Cabinet, that General Grant should be appointed Commander-in-Chief of the United States army, u post at present nominally filled by the President. An Amerlcan-Anstrallan Cable. New York, Dec. 7. A project is on foot for the construction of a cable, to bo hud from San Francisco to Australia, via the Sandwich Islands.
