Tire drawing for the eight competitors in two heats of the International Ilcgatta, to be rowed resulted as follows: First heat—Wallace lloss, Hosmcr, Reily r , and Nicholson ; second heat— Laycock, Tricket, Hawdon, and Smith. The following were the results : KIItST HKAT. Ross... ... ... ... I Hosmer ... ... ... 2 SKCOND HKAT. Laycock ... ... ... I. Smith 2 In the second heat a foul took place between Trickett and Smith, and the former was thus put out of the race. Nor 20. The protest which was entered for the foul between Trickct and Smith in one of the heats has been disallowed by the umpires. The final results are: — Laycock ... ... ... I Loss ... 2 Hosmer ... ... ... 3 Smith ... ... ... I Laycock, the Australian oarsman, has challenged Hanlon for the championship of the world.
