THE TOWN OF AGRAM.

Agram, the town referred to in the cable news as having suffered injury from earthquakes, is a fortified town in the Austriah Empire, and the capital of the Crownland of Croatia. It is situated at a distance of about IGO miles from Vienna. The town is prettily situated, partly on an eminence, and consists of throe parts—the lloyal town, the Episcopal town, and the quarter called Opafowiua. It is well built, and has many good public structures, among which the most important arc the Palace of the Landtag, or Provincial Diet ; the Episcopal Palace ; and the Cathedral, a fine Gothic building. It has an acadetuy, an arts gymnasium, an ecclesiastical college, and an academy of music. The chief manufactures are silks and porcelain ; there is also a good trade in wheat, tobacco, and pigs. Large markets for produce are held in the town.
