BACK FROM THE DEAD.

SECONH EHITION

It will bo remembered that on Saturday last a Chinaman named Ah Song was coming into Tiinaru with a cartload of vegetables from his garden at Saltwater Creek, when his horse taking fright the vehicle was upset and rolled down an embankment, striking the unfortunate driver’s head as it went and rendering him unconscious. He was at once removed to his camp, which was close at baud, and medical aid was summoned. Hr Hammond considered the case a very bad one, but after a time the sufferer rallied and hopes were entertained of his recovery- He had a relapse, however, and last evening about eight o’clock a Chinaman named Ah Mow called at the Police Station and reported that the injured man had just breathed his last. The death was rep > t.d to the Coroner, and preparations were made for the inquest, which was to have taken place to-day. However, another Chinaman called at the Police Station and stated that Ah Song had come to life again at three o’clock this morning. Hr Hammond lost no time in visiting the Chinamen’s camp at Saltwater Creek, and found the man alive, hut that was all. One side of his face and head are completely paralysed, and he is not expected to survive long. He was seen by the doctor yesterday, and the draught then administered to him is supposed to have produced asleep, which the Chinamen at the camp mistook for death. By latest accounts the sufferer is improving and likely to recover.
