TIM ABU—THIS DAS'. [Before E. G. Stcrickor and E. Le Cron, Esqs., J.P’s.] ALLEGED LARCENY OE A WATCH. Charles Williams, a young man of about live and twenty years of age, was charged with ihe larceny of a silver watcli of iho vale of £7, the property of William Crompton. Inspector Ponder stated that the accused had only been arrested half an hour before, and the police were therefore not prepared to go on with the prosecution as yet. The accused was remanded till Saturday, bail being accepted tor his appearance, himself in £SO and two sureties of £25 each. FAILING TO PROVIDE, Patrick Kane, who was brought up some weeks ago, on a charge of neglecting to provide for his infant child, and was ordered to contribute a certain sum per week towards its support, was again brought up charged with neglecting to comply with the order of the Resident Magistrate. The accused was remanded till tomorrow. PERSONATING A DETECTIVE. William Lee, a well-dressed man of about 40 years of age, was charged with obtaining board, lodging and money to the value of £6, from a hotelkeeper at Oamaru by falsely representing himself to bo a detective.
The accused was remanded at the request of the police to Oamaru. The Court then adjourned.
