The following is a continuation of our report : Novel Eace, of 80 sovs. ; one mile and a quarter ; the winner to be sold by auction, with all his engagements, and the whole proceeds of the sale of the horse to go the funds. Mr Tamil's b g Itolun Hood, aged, 7st Hb 1 Mr Mackay’s ch h Ountroon, aged, 7st 2 Mr Corsair’s b g Wcndync, aged, 7st Blb 3 Concrete also ran. Betting—3 to 2 agst Eobin Hood ; 2 to 1 Duntroon ; 3 to 1 the rest. Concrete and Eobin Hood cut out the running, and led past the Stand, with Duntroon a length behind them. At the back of the course Eobin Hood and Duntroon passed Concrete, and raced away together. The favorite held a lead until a quarter of a mile from home, when the whip was pulled out to Duntroon, and all seemed over from this, but the half-brother to Trump Card came with great gameness, and collaring Eobin' Hood half way up the straight. Webster had also to use the whip freely. A great struggle took place, first one and then the other having a slight advantage, but in the end Mr Lunn’s horse had a shade the best of it, Webster lifting him first past the post by a head. Time —2miu. 25sccs. The E.vilway Elate, of (50 sovs. the gift of David Proudfoot, Esq. ; three-quarters of a mile ; weight for age. Mr Cult’s 1) g Mata, uyrs, 8s 121 b.. 1 Mr Prince's br c Hilarious, 2 yrs. (Ist 101 b 2 Mr Hay’s b b Templeton, aged, Ost 101 b.. 8 Betting —3 to 2on Mata. Mata got the best of the start, and cutting out the running, won in the commonest of canters by half a length, Hilarious, who ran alongside him most of the way on sufferance, was second, and Templeton last, three lengths off. Time —Imiu. 21sccs. Hack: Each, of 20 sovs. Bpey 1 Titian Day. —Satueuav, Feb. 28. There are 3000 people on the course to-day. The weather is simply beautiful. The following were the events :
Handicap Steeplechase of 100 sovs. Nomination, 2 sovs: acceptance 2 sovs; the second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stakes. About three miles, over such fences as the Stewards may appoint. Mr 1). May's gr g Lonehand, aged .. 0 Scamp was served up a warm favorite At the third hurdle, itobin Hood, who was the last, slipped and t 011, and at the water jump, Lonehand baulked three times, and when he negociated it, was out of the race, pulling up on going past the stand. Scamp, who cantered the rest of the way, won just as he liked ; Robin Hood being a good second. Time —7min. -losec. Foiluinty Handicap, of 150 sovs. ; one mile and a-half. Hon. "\V. Libeller, at a mile, looked dangerous, but iu the straight was overhauled by Chancellor, who made a desperate but unavailing effort, Foul Play winning by a clear length, with plenty in band. Time —2miu. 14 j secs. The Queen’s Plate of 80 sovs, with a sweepstakes of 5 sovs each; the second horse to receive the amount accruing from the sweepstakes. Two miles and a distance. E.
