CRICKET.
At a meeting o£ the Waimate County Cricket Club, held at the Royal Hotel last evening, it was resolved that a deputation consisting of three members from each of the two clubs should wait upon the Waimate Borough Council and ask them to fence in a portion of the Waimate Recreation Reserve. It was also intimated that Mr Sherwin, the President of the Club, would give a prize worth £2 2s to the highest scorer in ten matches during the season. This is done for the purpose of encouraging cricketers to go in for more steady practice, and also to secure more proficiency in cricket generally.
