The voting - on the Waterworks Loan yesterday resulted in a complete triumph for the proposal. In 1877 the numbers were 228 for and 135 against the scheme, so that the result of yesterday’s poll shews that public opinion on the expediency of the loan has undergone a very decided change. The fact of an overwhelming majority having affirmed the Council’s proposal will doubtless strengthen the hands of members in proceeding with this important undertaking.
