Waimarino golf

The golf season is well under way with good turn-outs for both the Saturday and Sunday haggles. Last week saw the annual competition between Waimarino and Taumarunui. In a close match, Taumarunui won the Manson Cup by 35.57 points to 34.97 points. Top individuals for the day were: seniors, Pat Goldfinch who shot a 74 for 46 points, second-equal were Roger Bartlett (Taumarunui) Bryce Henry and Dwayne Marsh on 43. In the juniors Daniel Ngaronga (Taumarunui), 45 points; Peter Cleary 44, second; Ross Bielby, 43, third. In the ladies Aroha Irwin was first with 42 points; second equal were Nancy Winter and Sonia de Thiery (T aumarunui), on 38 points. At the recent Ohakune New World-sponsored 27-hole tournament held at the Turoa village course and the Waimarino course, a good score by Bryce Henry saw him win the gross for the 27 holes in the men's competition. The club would like to thank both Ohakune New World and

Turoa who allowed the use of the course. Members are reminded of the 72-hole tournament on 10-1 1 May. Names need to be put on the list at the club rooms by 4 May, or give your entry to Pat Mcllroy.
