Obituary Stan Webb

Former Raetihi town clerk, Stan Webb, died recently, aged 66. Born and educated in Bedford, England, Mr Webb began worked for councils in England, Zambia, Capetown in South Africa, and in Natal. He qualified as a chartered public accountant in both England and South Africa. He emigrated to New Zealand and settled in Raetihi where he became town clerk, later moving to Napier as deputy treasurer, then city treasurer. Due to ill health he left but later worked as treasurer with the Hawke's Bay County Council, and later as revenue accountant with the Hastings District Council until he retired two years ago. A keen gardener with a love of roses, He was also interested inbowls, fishing, astronomy, the piano and ballroom dancing. He was involved with Rotary and Probus, and his former colleagues knew him as a man willing to assist the public
