Double losses to Ruapehu

In spite of the score board posting'a 10-6 loss, Ruapehu' s seniors coach Marty McGrath is claiming his squad played pretty well against Huia on Saturday. He said they were fairly evenly matched and Ruapehu held the opposition at bay winning two penalties fromkickerChris Winter. Huia also kicked a penalty and in the last minute of the first half, scored a converted try. The second half was scoreless with each side holding the other off. Flanker Chris Lee was player of the day for Ruapehu and Teddy Payne

for Huia. The seconds also had a loss, to Counties 7-5. Once again Ruapehu played well in defence. Both sides held the other at bay with a try apiece. Counties converted their try while Ruapehu

were unable to do the same. This week's games will be played in Ohakune on Friday, both teams up against Pirates. Northern Wanganui is to play Ellesmere in Taihape on Saturday. Ruapehu play-

ers Stu Ngatai, Brendon Wells, Leonard Piere and Chris Winters are in the squad. Frank Taylor was also picked but has since moved to Australia.
